If you would like the complete bells and whistles, then it’s the last word edition for you, full of nearly twice the content of Standard: 101 instruments and effects, and over 45,000 sounds shoehorned into a 600GB library.īut if you’re really greedy for instruments, effects and sounds, there’s the last word Collector’s Edition. This has 52 instruments and effects and a 220GB library full of over 25,000 sounds and samples. To get the complete set of core tools and functionality you would like a minimum of the quality edition, called simply Komplete 12. While it’s an honest route in to NI software, it does lack a number of the heavyweight grunt of its stablemates if you’re thinking of shopping for Select, then make certain to see with NI’s website that it includes the components that interest you. This edition comes free with Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboards and a few Maschine controllers, or it are often purchased for just £159. Select is that the baby of the family, with 14 instruments and effects, and quite 7,000 sounds during a 45GB library. Now onto its 12th iteration, Komplete comes in four different versions to suit different budgets and requirements. It was a while back that NI decided to start out selling its various plug-ins as a bundle, and therefore the excellent value this offered to users in comparison to purchasing the products individually ensured it had been an instantaneous success. While Native has now branched out into hardware – and awfully nice it’s, too – at bottom, it remains a software developer, with an inventory of plug-ins that reads sort of a modern music-producer’s ultimate wishlist: Kontakt, Massive, Reaktor, Battery, Guitar Rig and more… all innovative and brilliant at what they are doing. Starting out as alittle developer of software instruments, its drive to innovate, its commitment to quality and its deep understanding of what music producers desire has seen the corporate become one among the main players on the music- technology scene.

So if you have Komplete 11 or under this upgrade is excellent value for money. They are still very usable though for layering and depending on the project can even work well on their own. The orchestral essentials packs are good but missing some of the finer details of expression which you'll find in the CE edition but you can work around these and I have specific orchestral plug ins for this area. With such a vast range of instruments and genres covered you can't expect everything to be top notch. I use the strummed acoustics a lot in my recordings so these are a natural addition. The Stradivari violin is incredibly realistic and great fun to play, and my upgrade entitled me to the picked guitar and the sunburst electric guitar both which are a fantastic addition. Noire piano is an absolute gem and really deep if you have the time to put into it. As far as value, I definitely feel they are more than worthy of the upgrade. The instruments of Komplete 13 are truly unique and excellent additions to the lineup. It was between this and the CE edition but that's very loop heavy and to be honest I would never use those. I upgraded from the Komplete 11 ultimate and even at that I ended up paying €199 for about 12 new instruments to the pack, of which realistically I would use 10/11 so for me it was a no brainer. If you already have some version of Komplete then the ultimate version is well worth the upgrade.
